From the men who created the National Lampoon movies, the book Bored of the Rings by Harvard Lampoon is an example of a parody. In this novel, the author composed a story that makes fun of the Lord of the Rings series by J. R. R. Tolkien. Another example of a parody is A Game of Groans by George R. R. Washington.

Some other famous examples of parody in literature include Henry Beard and Douglas Kenney’s Bored of the Rings (which parodies J. R. R. Tolkien’s Lord of the Rings), Seth Grahame-Smith’s Pride and Prejudice and Zombies (which parodies Jane Austen’s Pride and Prejudice), and Alice Randall’s The Wind Done Gone (which parodies Margaret Mitchell’s Gone with the Wind).

A parody is just meant for entertainment. Examples of Parody: Saturday Night Live skits often parody politicians and political speeches.
