      The Nash Metropolitan (also sold as a Hudson in the United States and an Austin in Europe) was one of the more curious Anglo-American motoring collaborations, which sadly proved ill-fated, despite the car’s many merits.
      The Nash Metropolitan is an American automobile that was assembled in England and marketed from 1953 until 1961. It conforms to two classes of vehicle: economy car and subcompact car. In current U.S. terminology, the Metropolitan is a "subcompact", but this category was not yet in use when the car was made.
      The Metropolitan was intended to be a basic car at a low price, but despite this, a heater, radio and cigarette lighter were all standard. The Nash Metropolitan was officially launched in March 1954, priced at $1445 for the coupé and $1469 for the drop-top.
