Starring Bill Murray, Andie MacDowell, and Chris Elliott, it tells the story of a cynical television weatherman covering the annual Groundhog Day event in Punxsutawney, Pennsylvania, who becomes trapped in a time loop, forcing him to relive February 2 repeatedly.

Phil (Bill Murray), a weatherman, is out to cover the annual emergence of the groundhog from its hole. He gets caught in a blizzard that he didn't predict and finds himself trapped in a time warp. He is doomed to relive the same day over and over again until he gets it right.

In 1993’s Groundhog Day, weatherman Phil Connors delivers his forecast to the city of Pittsburgh that an approaching blizzard will miss the west Pennsylvania area. Then, he, his new producer, Rita Hanson, and Larry the Cameraman head to Punxsutawney, Pennsylvania to cover the next day’s Groundhog Day festivities.
